Elegoo vs Arduino So you’ve been looking to get an Arduino board and found “Elegoo” boards. They often come in kits with lots of accessories. They’re also cheaper, have positive reviews, and come in kits with way more accessories than the official boards. So what’s the difference? Are Elegoo boards equal to Arduino boards in performance and price? What is an Elegoo? Elegoo is a thriving technology company that sells electronics kits at budget-friendly prices. The most basic and cheaper Arduino project for the beginner is the Elegoo UNO Project Basic Starter Kit which is a fun, interactive way to play with electronics. ELEGOO Elegoo is a Chinese company with no ties to Arduino. The Arduino circuit design is open-source, meaning anyone can manufacture their own, with the consequence of also allowing foreign companies to undersell Arduino’s official boards by manufacturing them at a massive scale. Some companies make counterfeit boards, others, like Elegoo, manufacture them under their own brand using the Arduino schematics. Is Elegoo compatible with Arduino software? Is an Elegoo Uno R3 compatible with the Arduino IDE? ... It's an Arduino compatible board, with the same MCU (atmega 328), so yes, it's fully compatible. Is the Elegoo uno the same as an Arduino Uno or is it modified in any way? The Elegoo UNO works the same as the Arduino brand. It's just not the official "Name Brand". some of the hardware on the board will look different but do not be worried. Matter of fact, the kit actually has you download Arduinos software and drivers to Run/Program the Elegoo Uno. I think this kit is one of the best on Amazon because it has great examples that will help a beginner learn how to wire up a basic circuit and explains basic programming. also when you have completed the projects included in the kit you can always find more examples on Arduino's website for free and they work with no problems. 100% recommend So, Same thing as Arduino, work the same way. The Arduino project was started at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea (IDII) in Ivrea, Italy.At that time, the students used a BASIC Stamp microcontroller at a cost of $50, a considerable expense for many students. In 2003 Hernando Barragán created the development platform Wiring as a Master's thesis project at IDII, under the supervision of Massimo Banzi and Casey Reas. Casey Reas is known for co-creating, with Ben Fry, the Processing development platform. The project goal was to create simple, low-cost tools for creating digital projects by non-engineers.
