To celebrate Pride Month, we’ve created limited edition Love Has No Labels Pride apparel so you can wear your pride on your sleeve. Check out our Teespring store and get a shirt to show your love for the LGBTQ+ community: 🤍 While the vast majority of Americans consider themselves unprejudiced, many of us unintentionally make snap judgments about people based on what we see—whether it’s race, age, gender, religion, sexuality, or disability. The Love Has No Labels campaign challenges us to open our eyes to our bias and prejudice and work to stop it in ourselves, our friends, our families, and our colleagues. Rethink your bias at 🤍 Share your #LoveHasNoLabels story by taking three easy steps: 1) TAKE a video, or a photo using our Faces of Love tool on 🤍. 2) TELL us what Love Has No Labels means to you. 3) SHARE your story and use #LoveHasNoLabels to submit it to our gallery. #LoveHasNoLabels t-shirts are now available at 🤍 Order now and wear it with Pride! More On Diversity & Inclusion: Most Americans agree that people should be treated respectfully and fairly. Yet many people in the United States still report feeling discriminated against. For example, one in five LGBT people report feeling there is little or no acceptance of their community. Six in ten Latinos report that discrimination is a major problem and a majority of African Americans report that they are not satisfied with the way they are treated in society. The Diversity & Inclusion campaign encourages everyone to reconsider the biases that we don't even know we have. Visit lovehasnolabels.com to find ways to challenge bias in themselves and others. We all have blinders. We can only see things from our own perspective. All big companies now require "DEI" training for employees, but studies say that often BACKFIRES. ———— To get our new weekly video from Stossel TV, sign up here: 🤍 ———— One study looked at 800 companies, and found that after companies did trainings, they actually came to have FEWER black managers. How is that possible? Erec Smith, a former DEI trainer, now a Professor of Rhetoric at York College, tells me: "It seems to be making people less likely to interact with people who are unlike them ... because it's like a minefield now." He explains that the trainings can make people so afraid of saying something wrong, that people just avoid each other. “If you ask somebody what they do for a living, somehow that's racist, right? If you learn that, then why would you take a chance?" That's the just the tip of the iceberg, regarding DEI's problems. You can watch the video above for more strange ideas that come from it, like “try to be less white" and the idea that some kids don't need to learn standard English.

We'd like to invite everyone at our faculty - and beyond - to make work of inclusion, in the diverse environment that we are. Of course, that requires the most inclusive invitation possible. An act that requires compassion, awareness, openness and change. Which might feel uncomfortable at times but is key for our faculty to be a space where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential. Not in isolation, but in connection with others. Together, in our diversity, we make the Humanities a home to understand and interpret the human experience. To reflect, to critique, to rethink to ask big questions without expecting a singular answer. What is academic freedom? Whose voices tell our history? Why is social justice necessary? No answer is complete if it fails to reflect a multitude of traditions, backgrounds and perspectives. Considering these questions comes with responsibility to educate ourselves and one another. Through questions of power and positionality. Redefine academic boundaries recognize mistakes. The emotional impact of words, ideas so we can grow together. Diversity is a fact. Inclusion is an act. Belonging and being valued are fundamental human needs. Inclusive leadership helps address these two crucial needs and enhances performance, collaboration, attendance, and reduces turnover. This life skill is helpful for everyone, yet it is imperative to create cultures, schools, teams, and organizations that drive equitable outcomes for historically marginalized and minoritized people. This talk will examine a four-part, iterative, reflective, and reflexive framework for developing into an inclusive leader. Consider this a green light to hone a working lens and essential practices that center diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and justice. Dr. Meagan Pollock envisions a world where personal and social circumstances are not obstacles to achieving potential and where kindness, inclusivity, and conservation prevail. As an engineer turned educator for diversity, equity, and inclusion, Meagan focuses on engineering equity in education and the workforce. Her company, Engineer Inclusion, helps people intentionally and systematically engineer equity and inclusion into their organizations: driving positive outcomes and effectively supporting employees and the community. An international speaker, teacher, engineer, and equity leader, her mission is to provide services, tools, and resources that inspire awareness and initiate action. 🤍 One of my biggest fears after we found out Ruby had Down Syndrome was how the world was going to perceive her. Would they accept, love and value her? Would she be included and valued in all aspects of her life? And what did her future have in store for her? I wanted so desperately for the world to see what I saw in my daughter….that she was a smart, determined , funny (dare I say hilarious) and most of all CABABLE little human that will do great things and bring so much into her community. I wanted to shout from the rooftops her worth and know that she would be seen as someone who will contribute to society and make it a better place. My hubby and I decided very early on that she would be fully included in all aspects of life, family and community…and also education. She may have some learning differences, but she was capable of more than the world gave her credit for…and deserved the same education as her big sis. Right now she has been fully included at her elementary school since pre-k, and is totally rockin’ the first grade. I believe having this expectation of her at a very early age (since birth, really) has been a huge factor in her success. I also so deeply believe inclusion benefits EVERYONE, not just the person being included. We all learn from each other and we all bring something different and unique to the table. We are so lucky in the fact that the school our girls attend (just by chance!) is just as passionate about inclusion as we are. Some families and educators have to fight for what this school just does naturally, and believe me, I DO NOT for a second take that for granted. So many parents ask me what inclusion can look like and we decided to take a sneak peek into what a day of inclusion looks like for Ruby. We talk with her teachers, principal and therapists and show what an impact-not only her peers have on her- but how much Ruby herself contributes and brings into the classroom…and life! We hope this can be used as tool for both parents and educators alike to see the benefits of inclusion and having different learning styles and people of all abilities in the classroom. I also know and understand that inclusion on any level looks different for everyone. Please know this is our experience and I share this in hopes of people all over the world seeing the value in including people of all types of disabilities more and more in their everyday lives. They are worthy and deserve it…and if the expectation is raised I believe ALL the world will be changed for the better! We hope you enjoy this video and PLEASE SHARE!!!

We strive to embrace diversity and inclusion in our schools and workplaces, but we often fail to understand what this looks like practically. Dr. Dawn Bennett-Alexander believes that with a little effort, we can move diversity and inclusion from theory to practice. Dawn D. Bennett-Alexander is a lawyer, an associate professor of Employment Law and Legal Studies at UGA, and co-author of the leading Employment Law text in the country, which created the discipline. Her life work is based on her belief that each of us is here for a unique purpose and come with the tools to accomplish it, including our race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. She believes part of her mission is helping people to understand that our differences should not be perceived as meaning "less than.” She is sure she was given three daughters to help with that mission, and she strives to change the world so that it accepts them as the incredibly wonderful creatures they are. “I believe that we have a responsibility to try in the ways we can, to change what we don't like about the world.” In the end, she believes “It’s ALL about LOVE…” She shares her musings in her blog, Peaces of My Heart. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at 🤍

The Marxist Roots of DEI - Session 3: Inclusion | James Lindsay

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives have taken over the country, reaching into every aspect of our work, school, and lives. What is "DEI," though? New Discourses founder James Lindsay explains the idea and its history in unprecedented depth in this new series from an in-person workshop in Miami, Florida, breaking down each of the three letters in detail. What we'll find is that it's a contemporary and managerial repackaging of socialism. In this third and final episode in the series, Lindsay explains that "Inclusion" is an overarching value structure for the "Diverse and Equitable" commissar system that's being installed. In fact, it's a justification not for inclusion as most people understand it, but for censorship and purges, just like in any Communist state. Inclusion, and its extension in "Belonging," are a manipulative strategy akin to Mao Zedong's "unity, criticism, unity" formula for taking over not just institutions but the value structure of populations and bending them toward socialism (or, in this case, equity). Join James Lindsay as he breaks down "Inclusion" and makes it clear that it's exactly the opposite of what it sells itself to be.
