At first, these two errors started showing from time to time, until they became almost permanent, every time when I would start the car. When these errors appear, my long beam stops working and even sometimes my Bi Xenon light on my headlight would just turn off when this error/errors pops up.

How to replace the dipped headlamp bub on a Vauxhall / Opel Insignia
The factory fitted Xenon adaptive headlights can seem daunting to tamper with. If the headlamp bulb should fail it can be expensive to have the dealer replace it. Here's how to do it yourself. Remember - safety first - take the keys out the ignition and make sure the headlights will not come on while you are working - these lights operate at very high voltage. Secondly - don't touch the glass of the new bulb. Thirdly - the high voltage external element running to the front of the bulb is very fragile - take care not to damage it putting the bulb into the headlamp unit. The standard bulb is an Osram Xenarc D1S 35 watt with a colour output of 4300k. The 4300k will give bright white light. A higher figure will take you towards the blue part of the spectrum and a lower figure provides a more yellow tone. 5000k or even 6000k should still be OK although you may want to replace both at once to have both the same colour.

Problems with a 64 Plate Vauxhall Insignia Elite AFL headlight from 6 months old that continues to plague the car. Either too high or too low, no fault codes when taken to dealer. This is a interesting one, flapping up and down while sitting stationary.
This video is an amateur job documenting my fix for the drying out of the headlamp unit, replacement of the ballast/driver and sealing the headlamp unit to prevent further water ingress. It's based on my 2011 Vauxhall Insignia Elite 2.0 Eco Turbo Diesel with Adaptive Front Lighting and Auto Leveling, also the factory fitted Xenon HID headlamps. It shows bolt locations, bolt sizes, locator positioning, testing method and illustrations of damage in the ballast unit. This is the second of two videos, this one showing the passenger side light after water ingress. The first video 🤍 shows the RH (Drivers side in UK) and the mistakes I made with missed bolt locations. This second video shows successful removal of the unit, replacement of the ballast and sealing. It also shows the original lamp from the first vid with water in it again as I didn't seal that one up. I would have taken it out and sealed it if I hadn't been part exchanging it for another newer insignia. I just dried it out with a hair dryer. I got the Ballast/Driver from eBay, part number in video, but check the part number you take out of the unit before you purchase one, there are some subtle differences in the units available. Mine cost around £40. To replace it with a Ballast / Driver from the local Vauxhall dealer would have been £250 without fitting. The cost of a headlamp unit from the same dealer was £1000+ without fitting. I dried the headlamp unit out with a hair dryer on a medium heat as I didn't want it too hot and melt some of the AFL equipment in the unit. Remove both covers off the unit to allow warm humid air to disperse. The bulbs were tried first to see if it was the bulb that needed replacing, before I decided that the ballast needed replacing. Serious Note: This type of work can be dangerous, especially as the Headlamp bulb is driven by very high voltages that could give you a big shock. Disconnect the battery negative terminal to ensure the power won't be restored while your holding a wire and lean on the remote key fob button... If you're at all unsure as to the next step, stop and consult a trained mechanic or auto electrician. I am neither. Any advice you follow from this video is at your own risk. If it wasn't likely to save many Insignia Owners some money from repairing this defect, rather than going to the dealer, I probably wouldn't have posted the video. The dangers and risks are worth taking very very seriously. Good luck and I wish you many happy years of motoring!!
A video documenting the trial s and tribulations of changing the Xenon HID D1S headlight ballast unit in my 2011 Vauxhall Insignia after an over zealous jet wash user at a local car wash got water into my headlamp. Some videos specify removing the whole of the front bumper but I succeeded eventually in removing the unit from the car, changing the ballast and refitting it by just removing half of the fixings for the bumper. WARNING: THERE ARE HIGH VOLTAGES IN THIS AREA AND YOU SHOULD DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE WORKING ON THE HEADLAMP OR BALLAST. ANOTHER WARNING: DO NOT COPY MY MISTAKE OF MISSING REMOVAL OF A BOLT, WATCH WHOLE VIDEO TO SEE WHICH BOLT I FORGOT. DOH!! FURTHER WARNING: I'm not a mechanic but a hobbyist who likes to keep my garage bills down. I didn't buy OEM Parts for this repair as I don't plan on keeping the car much longer. Non-OEM parts might be risky and probably shorter lives but they're much more cost effective in my mind. I'm obviously not an expert so if you have any questions or concerns you should talk to someone qualified.
